Copyright and Licensing Policy
There are four different scenarios that apply to the material used on your project:
Your Copyright
We may produce original designs or content for your project. This material will come under your copyright from the point where final payment is made. This typically includes:
- Original website designs (when designed specifically for your project)
- Original text, images, audio and video content (when produced specifically for your project)
Please note that prior to the receipt of final payment we retain copyright on all our work.
Licensed To You
We may write original software for your project which we'll provide to you under license, or we may license material from a third party on your behalf for use on your project. You don't have copyright, but you can use it as described in the license agreement. This typically includes:
- Original software we've written for use on your project
- Commercially licensed propriety software
- Commercially licensed stock photography, images, audio and video
- Open source software licensed under the GNU or similar
Please note that where material is licensed for your use it's important that you comply with the terms of the license agreement.
Original software written for your project is provided to you under license so that we're able to use standard functions from our code library on your project. If we were to transfer copyright to you on completion of the project then we would not be able to use those functions on more than one project.
Unless otherwise stated this software is fully transferable to another supplier's servers under the terms of our licensing agreement, only duplication and redistribution is restricted.
Licensed To Us
We may use material on your project which we have licensed for use on our servers. This typically includes:
- Commercially licensed software
- Open source software licensed under the GNU or similar
Please note that material licensed for use on our servers may be non-transferable, or you may need to acquire your own license for use on another server.
Material You Supply
Material you provide for use on your project is assumed to be under your own copyright or to have been independently licensed for your use. This typically includes:
- Your brochure and any other marketing material
- Your library of text, images, audio and video content
- Your product information and specifications
- Anything you upload to our servers yourself through content management software or over FTP
Please note that we cannot be held responsible for copyright violations resulting from material you have provided. It's your responsibility to ensure that you have the right to use the material you provide, and that you inform us of any relevant licensing conditions.
